The School of Business is accredited by the AACSB International, the nation's oldest and most prestigious business school accrediting organization. Of the more than 1,400 business programs in the nation, only 418 are AACSB accredited. AUM was first accredited in 1986, and has the only AACSB accredited program in Montgomery.

In late 2011 the School of Business achieved accreditation for its Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Accounting program for the AACSB in addition to the over all accreditation it had for the undergraduate and graduate programs in the School. AUM is now one of four business schools in Alabama, and one of 177 worldwide, with both business and accounting accreditation.
